I am so pleased to have you visit our website. I understand that this may be a difficult time for you. You might be facing a pregnancy that came as a surprise to you and may not be coming at the time you would have planned. I also realize that you might be feeling overwhelmed, or alone, or even a little bit scared. I want you to know that we are committed to walking beside you and helping you to make the choices for your future that you can feel good about. My mom was a student when she became pregnant with me. Now, as an adoptive child, I often have the chance to wonder what type of feelings she must have been facing as she considered her options and struggled in making choices. This is where we hope that Community House can support you. We want to give you the option, all expenses paid, of temporarily moving to Portland, Oregon, where we will provide you with housing, and encouragement, and even the opportunity to continue your college education, so that some of pressure you are now feeling can be relieved and you can have the time to consider the options that will be best for you and your baby and plan for your future. Our home is run by women that do understand what you are feeling. We have advocates that have been in the same situation you are now in - young, single, pregnant, not exactly sure what to do next. We have women on our team who are pro-choice, other women who decided the best option for them was to parent their babies, and others still who selected adoption as their parenting plan. I want to enable you to have freedom to make the choices that are are best for you. Community House is a team of women who also want to help you make wise choices. We have two full-time staff, two live-in resident assistants, an advisory board, and a team of advocates. Many of us know what it is like to be in your shoes and feel the pressure you are experiencing, and we know that the anonymity of a safe place in a new environment may be just what you need right now. I want to invite you to take your time browsing through our site and getting to know a little bit more about Community House and the services that we are able to offer you. If at anytime you would like to ask questions of us or receive a free color information packet in the mail, we have a 24 hour toll free hotline and online request form that promise your complete confidentiality. Sincerely, Jorie Kincaid, Director |
